The Arctic covers an area in excess of 30 million square kilometers and 24 time zones and has a population of 4 million people. A U.S. Geological Survey preliminary assessment suggests that the arctic seabed may hold as much as 25 percent of the world's undiscovered oil and gas reserves, with an estimate of 400 billion barrels lying beneath the arctic seabed.

This is an open invitation to any organization seeking sponsorship for innovative technologies in the oil and gas industry to submit proposals for research, development, and / or field trials in the following areas associated with the identified needs of the Arctic Challenges Theme:

  • The harshness of the arctic climate;
  • The impact of ice;
  • The sensitivity of the environment; or
  • The remoteness of the location.

If you have an innovative technology that addresses one or more of these technology needs, there may be up to 100% funding available to develop or trial your technology. Further detail about application requirements can be found on the website.
