The contributions are inspired by the discussions held at the first “Inter-Polar Conference: Connecting the Arctic with the Third Pole” held in Kathmandu, Nepal, last September. The Volume included a report highlighting major findings and key messages for enhancing research, networks and collaboration between the Arctic and the Third Pole. Additionally, a number of other contributions have also sketched a comparative analysis of the Arctic and the Third Pole regions, discussing their similarities and differences. The analysis was primarily drawn from human and social science disciplines with focus on Indigenous perspectives, geopolitics and security, mining and human displacement, etc.
