“My name is Samuel Steen and I am a student at Umeå University. This fall, I was an exchange student at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

I have always had a great interest in beautiful nature and ice hockey, and have therefore always had a dream of visiting Canada. During my stay in Canada, I got to live my dream and experience big, beautiful cities, amazing nature and a lot of ice hockey.

The University of Saskatchewan was big and very beautiful. Through their sports recreational program, I had the opportunity to play ice hockey and gain experience in Canadian sports and culture as well as make international friends for life.

The courses I chose to study included Business, Accounting, Personal Financial Management, Marketing and Organizational Behavior.

My time abroad helped me learn a lot about myself as a person and helped me grow on a personal level. I challenged myself every day by meeting new people in the form of teachers, professors and students, both Canadian and international. I also developed my English skills, both informally and academically which will be useful to me in the future.

Thanks to North2North, I have had an invaluable opportunity to broaden my academic knowledge in business and commerce. Now that I have experienced this semester abroad, I feel more confident with my own studies at my home university and will benefit greatly from what I have learned in Canada.” © Samuel Steen
