STRAWCO Project Secures Additional Funding for Arctic Waste Management Cooperation
The STRAWCO project (Strengthening the Transfer of good practices in the Arctic Waste Management Cooperation), led by the Arctic Centre and hosted by the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law, University of Lapland, has received additional funding through the Nordic Arctic Program.
The STRAWCO project has received a second-year extension, with an additional 500,000 DKK in funding through the Nordic Arctic Program of the Nordic Council of Ministers, administered by the Nordic Institute in Greenland.
The project will use the new funding to organize workshops across its Arctic case study areas. These activities aim to strengthen dialogue and improve understanding of opportunities and challenges in cross-border solid waste management cooperation.
The STRAWCO project brings together researchers, municipalities, and waste management operators from Finland, Norway, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands to develop research-based solutions and share best practices that support sustainable waste management and the transition to a circular economy in northern communities.
